Michael Kolber, M.D., Ph.D., professor of medicine, came to the University of Miami as a young immunologist who was keen on researching T-cells. In the face of Miami-Dade County’s rapidly growing HIV epidemic in the early 1990s, however, Kolber was enlisted to head UM’s first HIV Division.
